HOW TO TRANSPOSE THE BACKING TRACKS:
MADTRACKER
I chose to explain how to transpose the instruments in MadTracker, because it's the most easy access tracker program (http://www.madtracker.org). Also, of all the trackers, it resembles a regular Windows application the most. Of course, I must admit that MadTracker has a few weird bugs that they haven't fixed for some reason We'll bump into those in this instruction page.
I take it you have been able to open one of my backing tracks, say 5MyFriendOfMisery.xm...
Select the instrument you want to transpose from the instrument list. (Picked Bass in the image) CLICK ONLY ONCE.

Click the circled button to access the instrument edit mode

To translate the note of the sample, adjust the note buttons (1). Here's one of the bugs in MadTracker. This thing works backwards. It says that you heightened the pitch when it actually went lower. Stupid, huh?
If the instrument has several samples, select the sample you want to change (2). This works backwards as well. Don't ask me why MadTracker is made this way...
